OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma City Blue filled out part of their roster for the coming season on Saturday, taking three players in the 2026 NBA G League draft as the Thunder’s development affiliate gets ready for its regular season.
The Blue held two picks in the opening round and used both. At No. 5 they chose a guard out of Virginia Tech who spent three college seasons at three schools, starting at Oral Roberts, moving to UNLV and finishing with the Hokies. Across those years he averaged 12 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.
Four picks later, at No. 9, Oklahoma City selected Yusuf Mohamed. His Division I résumé is a single 2020-21 season at Tennessee State, where he averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds, and he has played in semi-pro leagues since.
The club added one more name deep in the second round at No. 36, picking a five-year Indiana player who averaged 7.3 points and 3.1 assists for the Hoosiers from 2020 to 2025.
The draft is a way for G League clubs to claim the rights to free agents who are not tied to an NBA parent team, a pool that mixes undrafted rookies, international players and former NBA players hoping for another shot. All 31 teams took part, the 30 NBA affiliates plus the Mexico City Capitanes, across two rounds, and teams were allowed to pass on picks.
The top pick drew the most attention. The Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks affiliate, took forward Jeremy Sochan at No. 1. Sochan, 23, was a 2022 lottery pick of the San Antonio Spurs out of Baylor and won a title with the New York Knicks last season.
